Fulldome 101 at IPS 2006

Last modified: 12 April 2008

For people unacquainted with immersive video, the complexity of the topic may seem daunting: in many ways, acquisition of new technology represents a fundamental shift in both the operations and objectives of planetariums. To help ease such transitions, the “Fulldome 101” workshop addresses some practical, day-to-day concerns. When do I replace the bulbs? How long does it take to put together a show? What new skills do I need to acquire? The first semester will give background about the technology and culture of fulldome video, through a series of presentations on fundamental topics. The second semester will allow planetarians to describe their own experiences, with a significant amount of time devoted to questions from audience members.
